MicroRNAs (miRNA) are gaining recognition as important post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression. While more than 500 miRNAs have been identified in the mammalian genome, studies addressing their physiological roles are at an early stage and miRNA functions are only now being elucidated. Toward this end, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is generating a continually expanding collection of MicroRNA Knockout ES cell lines for use by the scientific community through the Mutant Mouse Regional Resource Centers. Please see our Sanger miRNA major collection page. posted: March, 2011
Datasheets for BayGenomics, Sanger (SIGTR), Soriano and future cell line sets are now created directly from data. Each page incorporates the International Gene Trap Consortium (IGTC) annotation page (when available) for the specific cell with one click access. All dynamic data is obtained from the MMRRC's database where it is actively maintained and curated, therefore the page content is always current coming directly from the authoritative reference database. Genetic information is generated based on genetic information regularly updated from Mouse Genome Informatics (MGI) data. For all cell lines, the MMRRC strain name, products, services and fees always reflect the most current information. posted: March, 2011
The MMRRC submission application form has been re-designed as a multipage form containing conditional pages and questions, with the added functionality of allowing the donor to save and resume a partially completed form. Additional electronic supporting documents can now easily be included with the submission information. In addition, a confirmation page allows the donor to review and correct all information prior to final submission. A copy of the submitted information is automatically sent to the donor’s email. posted: February, 2011
The Mammalian Phenotype (MP) Ontology listing has been enhanced to reduce the
load time from as much as 5 seconds to 100 milliseconds. The MP page was redesigned
so that only the top level terms are loaded when the page is opened. When a user
clicks on a term to show the child terms in the hierarchy, a second database lookup
is performed. In addition to improving performance, we added an information icon
so that the definitions and synonyms do not obstruct the term. Users should place
the mouse over the
for definitions and synonyms. posted: January, 2011
NCBI’s PubMed LinkOut feature now lists MMRRC strains. Clicking on the "LinkOut - more resources" button in the lower left of the PubMed abstract screen lists MMRRC strains involved in the research with a direct link to Strain Data Sheets in the MMRRC catalog, e.g. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10549631?dopt=Abstract. posted: November, 2010
