Phenotype:
Homozygous phenotype: The CpG1 homozygous mice show absent responses to unmethylated CpG oligodeoxynucleotide motifs (CpG-ODN). The mice have a normal appearance; while there is a pronounced defect in TNF production in response to CpG-ODN, there are normal responses to induction with all other microbial stimuli. The mice also show substantial hypersusceptibility to mCMV infection.

Heterozygous phenotype: Macrophage response to CpG-ODN at a low concentrations (<0.1 µM)is distinguishable from the homozygous macrophage.

Strain Development:
The original founder was crossed to C57BL/6, then F1 generation was backcrossed to founder. The donor maintained the strain by intercross between siblings.

^a The distribution fee covers the expense of resuscitating mice from the cryo-archive; you will receive the resulting litter. The litter will contain at minimum one breedable mutant carrier; the actual number of animals and the gender and genotype ratios will vary. (Typically, multiple breeder pairs can be established from the recovered litter.) Prior to shipment, the MMRRC repository will provide information about the animals recovered. If you anticipate or find that you need to request specific genotypes, genders or quantities of mice in excess of what is likely from a resuscitated litter, you may discuss available options and pricing with the supplying MMRRC repository.
