Strain Detail Sheet

Strain Name: B6.129P2-B3galt2tm1Dgen/Mmnc

Stock Number: 011602-UNC

Other Names:

Gene Details:

Allele Symbol: B3galt2tm1Dgen
Name: targeted mutation 1, Deltagen
Alteration at locus: Knockout

Genetic Alterations:
The endogenous gene promoter drives expression of inserted lacZ gene.

Genotype Determination:

ES Cell Line: E14

Strain Description

Phenotype:
Homozygous mutants displayed an increase in total distance traveled on the Open Field test.
Homozygous mutants spent significantly more time in the central region in the Open Field test.
Homozygous mutants spent significantly more time immobile in the Tail Suspension test.
Homozygous mutants were impaired on the Rotarod test.
Homozygous mutants displayed significantly increased acoustic startle responses.
Phenotypic data provided by Deltagen, Inc. Full report available through MGI data link (includes genotyping information under "Molecular Biology" at top of screen).

Strain Type: Congenic

Founder genetic background: 129 P2/B6

Strain genetic background: C57BL/6

Strain Development:
ES cells derived from the 129/OlaHsd mouse substrain were used to generate chimeric mice. F1 mice were generated by breeding with C57BL/6 females. The resultant F1N0 heterozygotes were backcrossed to C57BL/6 mice to generate F1N1 heterozygotes. F2N1 homozygous mutant mice were produced by intercrossing F1N1 heterozygous males and females. Subsequent crosses made to C57BL/6.

Special Considerations

Health Status Report

Mice recovered from a cryo-archive will have health surveillance performed on the resuscitated animals.

Order Request Information

Availability Level:

Limited quantities of breeder mice (recovered litter) are available from a cryoarchive; recovered litter usually available to ship in 3 to 4 months.

Conditions of Distribution:

Licensing is required for this strain. Please complete the Deltagen Agreement and provide it at the time your order is placed.

Fees: *

* Additional charges may apply for any special requests. Shipping costs are in addition to the basic distribution/resuscitation fees. Information on shipping costs and any additional charges will be provided by the supplying MMRRC facility.

MMRRC Item # Description Distribution
Fee/unit (US $)
Units
011602-UNC-RESUS Resuscitation from cryopreserved material $1,963.00 litter a
011602-UNC-EMBRYO Cryopreserved embryo $1,008.00 aliquot c

Control Mice:

a The distribution fee covers the expense of resuscitating mice from the cryo-archive; you will receive the resulting litter. The litter will contain at minimum one breedable mutant carrier; the actual number of animals and the gender and genotype ratios will vary. (Typically, multiple breeder pairs can be established from the recovered litter.) Prior to shipment, the MMRRC repository will provide information about the animals recovered. If you anticipate or find that you need to request specific genotypes, genders or quantities of mice in excess of what is likely from a resuscitated litter, you may discuss available options and pricing with the supplying MMRRC repository.

c An aliquot contains a sufficient number of embryos (in one or more vials and based on the transfer success rate of the MMRRC facility) to transfer to at least two recipients. The MMRRC makes no guarantee concerning embryo transfer success experienced in the recipient investigator's laboratory. Neither gender nor genotype ratios are guaranteed.
