Synonyms: yellowstone
Type: Allele
Species: Mus musculus (mouse)
Chromosome: 18
Alteration at locus: Chemically Induced
Malt1
Name: MALT1 paracaspase
Synonyms: D430033E09Rik, paracaspase, Pcasp1
Type: Gene
Species: Mouse
Chromosome: 18
Alteration at locus: Chemically Induced
NCBI: 240354
HGNC: HGNC:6819
Homologene: 4938
Genetic Alterations
ENU-induced T to A transition at base pair 65,458,200 (v38) on chromosome 18, or base pair 27,332 in the GenBank genomic region NC_000071 for the Malt1 gene. The mutation corresponds to residue 1,216 in the mRNA sequence NM_172833 within exon 9 of 16 total exons. The mutation results in an asparagine (N) to lysine (K) substitution at position 347 (N347K) in the MALT1 protein.
Phenotype

Homozygous: Mice showed diminished T-dependent antibody responses to ovalbumin administered with aluminum hydroxide and recombinant Semliki Forest virus (rSFV)-β-galactosidase (rSFV-β-gal). The T-independent antibody response to 4-hydroxy-3-nitrophenylacetyl-Ficoll (NP-Ficoll) was also diminished.

Heterozygous: The T-independent antibody response to 4-hydroxy-3-nitrophenylacetyl-Ficoll (NP-Ficoll) was diminished to intermediate levels between wild-type and homozygous yellowstone mice.

Strain Development
Original mutant was a C57BL/6J G3 ENU-induced mutant; all subsequent crosses to maintain strain were on C57BL/6J background only.
Suggested Control Mice
Wild-type littermates or C57BL/6J mice
MMRRC Genetic QC Summary
