Strain Information

Bbaa1C3H/HeNCr
Name: B.burgdorferi-associated arthritis 1; C3H/HeNCr
Type: Allele
Species: Mus musculus (mouse)
Chromosome: 4
Alteration at locus: Non-mutant
Bbaa1
Name: B.burgdorferi-associated arthritis 1
Synonyms: Bb1
Type: QTL
Species: Mus musculus (mouse)
Chromosome: 4
Alteration at locus: Non-mutant
Genetic Alterations
This C3H/HeNCr-derived Bbaa1 allele confers susceptibility to severe B.burgdorferi-associated arthritis as compared to the allele found in the C57BL/6NCr strain. Commonly referred to as interval-specific recombinant congenic line 3 (ISRCL3), this strain was generated by crossing the Bbaa1C3H/HeNCr QTL variant onto a C57BL/6 genetic background.
ES Cell Line
Not applicable
Phenotype

C57BL/6 mice introgressed with the Bbaa1C3H/HeNCr QTL variant develop more severe Lyme arthritis than do wildtype C57BL/6 mice. Increased severity of arthritis is initiated by myeloid lineage cells in joints.

Strain Development
These congenic mice were generated by introgression of the Bbaa1 allele from C3H onto the B6 background. Further backcrossing of B6.C3-Bbaa1 mice with B6 mice allowed developmet of interval-specific recombinant congenic lines (ISRCL). The ISRCL3 advanced congenic line retaines the 83.7-93.46 cm of introgressed Chr4 C3H genome and dispalys a full arthritis phenotype.

MMRRC Genetic QC Summary
The MMRRC Centers have developed a genetic QC pipeline using MiniMUGA array genotyping to provide additional information on strain backgrounds for MMRRC congenic and inbred strains. For more information on when data may be available, or to request genotyping for a strain of interest, please contact mmrrc@ucdavis.edu. Older strains may not have this information.
