Prkcb
Name: protein kinase C, beta
Synonyms: Pkcb, A130082F03Rik, PKC-Beta, Prkcb2, Prkcb1
Type: Gene
Species: Mus musculus (mouse)
Chromosome: 7
Alteration at locus: Chemically Induced
NCBI: 18751
HGNC: HGNC:9395
Homologene: 56424
Genetic Alterations
ENU-induced T to A transversion at base pair 122,582,449 (v38) on chromosome 7, or base pair 293,370 in the GenBank genomic region NC_000073 for the Prkcb gene. The mutation corresponds to residue 1,479 in the mRNA sequence NM_008855 within exon 11 of 17 total exons. The mutation results in a methionine (M) to lysine (K) substitution at position 420 (M420K) in the PKC? protein.
Phenotype

Homozygous: Mice showed a diminished T-independent antibody response to 4-hydroxy-3-nitrophenylacetyl-Ficoll (NP-Ficoll).

Heterozygous: Mice showed a diminished T-independent antibody response to 4-hydroxy-3-nitrophenylacetyl-Ficoll (NP-Ficoll). Phenotype in the heterozygote is intermediate between homozygote and wild-type.

Strain Development
Original mutant was a C57BL/6J G3 ENU-induced mutant; all subsequent crosses to maintain strain were on C57BL/6J background only.
Suggested Control Mice
Wild-type littermates or C57BL/6J mice
  • Immunology and Inflammation
