Gene and Allele Search Help

The MMRRC's Strain Search Form allows investigators to search for genes or alleles by their name or symbol. Search field options can be combined with each other, such as using "Cre" Gene/Allele Symbol with "GENSAT" Major Collection. Searches are case insensitive, meaning that terms like "agouti," "Agouti," and "AGOUTI" will all produce matching results. You can choose between full matches (using "equals") or partial matches (using "begins," "contains," or "ends"). Searches for genes will include all alleles of that gene, while a search for a specific allele will return only the matching allele.

For additional flexibility in creating SQL "like" text matches, the Gene/Allele Symbol/Name text field also accepts SQL wildcards ("%" and "_") for use with the contains, begins, and ends operators.
