Functioning as a single repository resource, the MMRRC comprises an Informatics, Coordination, and Service Center (ICSC) and four regional distribution facilities. They are:

The MMRRC's Coordinating Committee consists of the five grantee PIs; it determines policy and direction for the MMRRC and decides on submission acceptance and facility assignments. The Coordinating Committee utilizes an Advisory Panel of outside experts for additional input on the specific merits of candidate strains.

A Steering Committee, consisting of additional external researchers who meet biannually, reviews and oversees the MMRRC's progress and advises the Coordinating Committee on the needs of the research community and the MMRRC's longer-term goals.
