Strain Name:
Nagy ES cell line G4 with Z/red transgene
Stock Number:
Citation ID:

Gene Information

Enhancer: CMV (Virus)
Name: cytomegalovirus
Alteration at locus: Transgenic
Promoter: ACTB (Gallus gallus (chicken))
Name: actin, beta
Alteration at locus: Transgenic
Reporter: lacZ (Escherichia coli (bacteria))
Name: beta galactosidase
Alteration at locus: Transgenic

Genetic Alterations:
The cell line has LacZ expression under control of a chicken beta actin promoter coupled with CMV immediate early enhancer. The beta-galactosidase gene is flanked by lox P sites and in the presence of cre-recombinase the beta-galactoside is excised and this allows expression of the second reporter contained in this cell line which is DsRed.MST (variant of DsRed).

Genotype Determination:

Parental ES Cell Line: Nagy ES cell line G4 (MMRRC:011986)
Mouse strain from which the parental cell line was derived: 129S6/SvEvTac X C57BL/6Ncr F1

Requested cell lines are tested by PCR analysis for mycoplasma spp. and Murine Parvoviruses (MPV) upon completion of expansion and prior to shipment. Mice derived from requested cell lines via Microinjection services will be pathogen tested prior to delivery of mice and health reports will be provided. If you require additional health status information prior to requesting microinjection please email

Order Request Information

Cryo-preserved ES cell line material can usually be shipped in 2 to 4 weeks. Genetic confirmation adds an additional 4 to 6 weeks (but is recommended to confirm that the material has not been contaminated or otherwise incorrectly identified). The microinjection services add an additional 10 to 12 weeks and can vary from cell line to cell line.

Distribution of this strain requires submission of the MMRRC Conditions of Use (COU). A link to the COU web form will be provided via email after an order has been placed; the form should be completed then or the email forwarded to your institutional official for completion.

The donor or their institution limits the distribution to non-profit institutions only.

Additional charges may apply for any special requests. Shipping costs are in addition to the basic distribution/resuscitation fees. Information on shipping costs and any additional charges will be provided by the supplying MMRRC facility.
