Strain Information

Alms1m1Btlr
Name: ALMS1, centrosome and basal body associated; mutation 1, Bruce Beutler
Synonyms: ares
Type: Allele
Species: Mus musculus (mouse)
Chromosome: 6
Alteration at locus: Chemically Induced
Alms1
Name: ALMS1, centrosome and basal body associated
Synonyms: Alstrom syndrome 1
Type: Gene
Species: Mouse
Chromosome: 6
Alteration at locus: Chemically Induced
NCBI: 236266
HGNC: HGNC:428
Homologene: 49406
Genetic Alterations
ENU-induced C to T transition at base pair 85,621,275 (v38) on chromosome 6, or base pair 33,779 in the GenBank genomic region NC_000072 encoding the Alms1 gene. The mutation corresponds to residue 3,197 in the mRNA sequence NM_145223 within exon 8 of 23 total exons. The mutated nucleotide converts glutamine 1028 of the ALMS1 protein to a stop codon.
Phenotype

Homozygous: Mice showed showed increased body weights compared to their littermates.

Heterozygous: No signficant abnormal phenotype detected.

Strain Development
Original mutant was a C57BL/6J G3 ENU-induced mutant; all subsequent crosses to maintain strain were on C57BL/6J background only.
Suggested Control Mice
Wild-type littermates or C57BL/6J mice
MMRRC Genetic QC Summary
The MMRRC Centers have developed a genetic QC pipeline using MiniMUGA array genotyping to provide additional information on strain backgrounds for MMRRC congenic and inbred strains. For more information on when data may be available, or to request genotyping for a strain of interest, please contact . Older strains may not have this information.
