Strain Information

Tyrc-2Btlr
Name: tyrosinase; albino 2 Bruce Beutler
Synonyms: Tyrm2Btlr, pale rider
Type: Allele
Species: Mus musculus (mouse)
Chromosome: 7
Alteration at locus: Chemically Induced
Tyr
Name: tyrosinase
Synonyms: Oca1, skc35
Type: Gene
Species: Mouse
Chromosome: 7
Alteration at locus: Chemically Induced
NCBI: 22173
Homologene: 30969
Genetic Alterations
ENU-induced T to A transversion was found at position 1341 of the Tyr transcript in exon 4 of 5 total exons (94586533 bp NCBI Mouse Genome Build 37.1, Chromosome 7). The mutation causes a valine to aspartic acid substitution at residue 427 of tyrosinase.
Phenotype

Homozygous: Mice exhibit albinism with white fur and red eyes.

Heterozygous: No abnormal phenotype detected.

Strain Development
Original mutant was a C57BL/6J G3 ENU-induced mutant; all subsequent crosses to maintain strain were on C57BL/6J background only.
Suggested Control Mice
Wild-type littermates or C57BL/6J mice
MMRRC Genetic QC Summary
The MMRRC Centers have developed a genetic QC pipeline using MiniMUGA array genotyping to provide additional information on strain backgrounds for MMRRC congenic and inbred strains. For more information on when data may be available, or to request genotyping for a strain of interest, please contact . Older strains may not have this information.
